Are ebooks still an effective method of product delivery?

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

On the Warrior Forum there is a thread that is discussing the effectiveness of various types of media delivery methods that are available to Internet Marketers. And the results are surprising.

Over the last year or two, and with the ever increasing speed of broadband connections, many internet marketers have been saying that the best method of product delivery is video and audio, and that the humble ebook has taken a back seat.

Well, although video and audio have their place in the marketing mix, it would seem that most people still prefer the ebook format.

For the reader, the main advantages of ebooks are:

1) The ebook can be printed and taken wherever the reader goes.
2) The reader can skip back and forth through the pages to get the exact information that they want.
3) The reader doesn’t have to bookmark a site or try to remember where they saw it.
4) They don’t have to fill up their hard-drive with huge files.

For the product creator, the main advantages of ebooks are:

1) Ebooks remain the easiest product format to produce.
2) It is easier to add affiliate links to an ebook than a video.
3) Ebooks are easier to edit.
4) There are more places that you can offer an ebook than there are videos and audios.

So, although many internet marketers will tell you that video and audio are the way to go, before you go ahead and put all your energy into creating video and audio products, think about what your customers want and not what you want to give your customers.

Food for thought!
